Low Waste

I use the term “Low Waste” because though I am inspired by the Zero Waste movement, we are not truly a zero waste home. The book Zero Waste Home by Bea Johnson opened my eyes to a whole world of practical tips to refuse, reduce, reuse, and recycle … in that order. This book could be overwhelming to many, but I found Johnson’s framework for thinking about reducing waste to be a helpful guide for making decisions in our own home in a way that makes sense for us. There are so many simple lifestyle changes that do not require a bunch of money or resources; it is simply a matter of developing new habits!
